Landscapes in change: Expectations

With this studio I wish to gain knowlegde about the context of the arctic region in various scales.

I expect to see diversity and contrast in various themes within each scale that reflects peoples life in the arctic landscape

culture - demography - political economy - architechture & infrastructure - sociology - environmental issues - arctic ecology

By that making a multilayered research, it could provide inspirations, we might take for granted. I look forward to visit various places to try to form an engagement with local people and gain sense and knowledge of the place they live in.

Research – Revise – Action Plan - Design

In that process of researching settlement, cultures and industry in diverse places in the region, my expectations is that the facts that this studio discovers could establish or revise a theory, that could develope a plan of action.

When the border restrictions were liberated in 2010 the number of passes rised significantly. I guess many people share your map of expectations: there is not so much but industry on the other side. But this common conception is changing. The way we imagine (and thus map) spaces has effects, even political (Doreen Massy, 2005) and according to your expectations for the studio it will be interesting to see what you choose to let become visible in your maps.
